Overwatch 2 can be mechanically demanding, but a team also needs to understand positioning, timing and how different heroes work together.
A good individual play is useful. Knowing when to engage, when to fall back and how to support the rest of the team is often just as important.
Training gives participants an opportunity to practise those decisions deliberately.
Understanding your hero's job and what tank, damage and support contribute to the team.
Using the map, cover and distance to stay effective without taking unnecessary risks.
Understanding when important abilities are available and how to use them at the right time.
Planning, tracking and combining ultimates instead of using them without coordination.
Sharing useful information and helping the team understand what is happening during a fight.
Engaging together, supporting teammates and learning when the team should push, hold or disengage.
Overwatch has many heroes and several distinct roles. Nobody needs to master all of them.
Players can build confidence within the heroes and roles they enjoy while gradually learning how the rest of the team functions.
Understanding what your teammates are trying to do often makes you better at your own role as well.
Overwatch moves quickly, which can make it difficult to understand why a fight was won or lost.
Training can slow those situations down and help players look at positioning, timing, ability use and communication.
The goal is not only to react faster, but to understand the game better.
